Agreed, it's a pretty excellent episode, it's just I prefer four of the other episodes. Also like I said in another post, not only was the bio-printer a new idea, it might well not be really that silly at all in terms of the sci-fi behind it.

Just watched this again and it's almost perfect in every way. The plot is tight, the actors are portraying the characters the way we know and love them and there's no over the top guest actor ruining the show.
This is as close to classic Dwarf as if gets for me

Officer Rimmer in fact became even greater for me than when I last watched it last 2 years ago. It was very humorous and positive to watch on my birthday and I especially enjoyed the lines about the elephant man, the rude grunts lift, call centre Lister clones and the bioprinted people not being able to have children in the normal way. A lot of it was genuinely funny and it was very tight. Meanwhile, in terms of the sci-fi concept of bioprinting it was probably the most innovative episode of the vintage eleventh series. Some fans have criticised the ending but as I am used to it now more than ever I don't mind it because it is a dramatic way for the episode to end and then roll the end credits IMHO. Doug skilfully created the Rimmer monster to look not just grotesque, but also hilarious at the same time and I appreciate greatly how it nostalgically harks back to the Mutton Vindaloo beast from 1991.

My rating for Officer Rimmer used to vary between 8 and 8.5 and now I can definitely confirm it to be a permanent 8.5 out of 10. Another very strong episode from the 2016 run.

Officer Rimmer is a good episode, but it was let down by two things. First is that few minutes in the middle with Kryten and Lister going on about call centre workers, which is a monotonous and unfunny conversation. And second is the ridiculously abrupt ending. It's a shame that these two things really spoil it for me as the rest of the episode is great.
