Are loot box systems ruining video games for the average penny watching gamer?
Is Neilold ruining the forum for the average Red Dwarf viewer?
No, but for the liberal pansy, now that's a different story
Do you want a pill for that butthurt?
I don’t even know what this means
Some games (pc especially) have extra stuff available to buy for them, ingame, in order to get certain unlockables, charged for extra for of course. EA is notorious for it. These are generally called loot box items. A lot of these sort of games blatantly push the items and some even go as far as making the game virtually impassable at points without them
I see. Like buying extra clothes on mortal kombat? Ya?
But some games it's more more intrusive, to the point where you virtually have to pay for stuff to progress. Even though you've already payed out for the game anyway
It's a bit like playing a computer game of some sort on your device, and it won't let you progress to the next level unless you pay for it.
Cosmetic items are fine. Like if you wanna pay for a new hat for your online characters thats fine, it isnt game breaking. I play GTA online a good bit and sometimes will pay if there is a car i really want or want something cool. It isnt needed and the game is still perfectly playable without it. But things like EA's new star wars game where core characters like Darth Vader are blocked behind pay walls is not on. Also paying for things to give you a game advantage on online play is also not on.
FIFA gold packs are the worst on FIFA seventeen. Games Retail shops reckon about 80 percent of kids buying 50 or 60 pounds on extras in their shops is on FIFA gold packs. EA is estimated to make 50 million a day from it. EA are by far the worst for this kinda thing, not that the other companies are any better or more moral
Cloud speaks sense when he talks about Cosmetic items. It's his example of things such as star wars, that upsets me and is killing gaming.
As awful as that kinda thing is in mobile games, and it is awful, at least with them you could say 'well it was only a cheap, or free, game, in the first place'
I agree about the nonessential stuff, but when it starts intruding on the core play that's a different story. I refuse to bite but then I rarely play online games preferring my computer. Did try L.O.L. and W.O.W. for a bit, but had a free ride for W.O.W.. I'm more of a loner so prefer playing by myself.
See you avoided putting playing with yourself!!
What an atrocious thread
I agree. I have no idea what it's about and I don't want to know.
I agree also
I seem to have commented on it but don't remember any of it
You’re a disgrace
